Cement

Cement is a finely milled mineral powder, usually grey in color. The most important raw materials for the production of cement are limestone, clay, and marl. Mixed with water, cement serves as an adhesive to bind sand, gravel, and hard rock in concrete. Cement hardens both in the air and under water, and remains in its hardened state once reached. Cement is actually an ingredient of concrete. There are different types of cement that come from adding various ingredients and changing the proportions of ingredients. These additions and changes can be used for different purposes. Type 1 that is Ordinary Portland Cement is made of silicates of alumina (clay and shale) and calcium carbonate. It is used for general construction purposes and most masonry work. White cement that is free from iron oxide and similar to Portland cement, except it is white. It is used for agricultural purposes such as precast curtain walls, and interior and exterior decorative work like: flooring and garden path. Another type of cement is sulfate resisting that is used to reduce the risk of sulfate attack on concrete, so is used in the construction of foundations where the soil has high sulfate content. Sulfate resisting cement is used in construction exposed to severe sulfate action by water and soil in places like canals linings, culverts, retaining walls, siphons, etc. Low heat cement needs less water to mix and set. It has high chemical corrosion resistance, so it can be used in floors and surfaces in chemical plants. And because it has high strength and wear resistance it also used in dams, wind turbine feet and large footing. Portland cement type1-425 that is similar to regular Portland cement, with higher compressive strength than the other types of cements that used in all concrete structures. Such as columns, roofs and bridges.
